belly
Many dogs prefer petting on their chest and back. They also love belly rub and soft pet on their heads.
Animal behavior researchers suggest that always keep an eye on your dog's reaction to see if your companion friend is pleased or stressed by our touch. Signs that your beloved pal's in a good mood include approaching or touching the person first, snoring or massaging the person with his/her feet, being in a relaxed position with slow flicking of the tail, ears pointing slightly forward.
While the dogs wag its tail or licks your hand, they are enjoying your petting.
When and where to avoid petting a dog
Do not pet the dogs when they show the signs of aggression or fear. Signs of aggression include barking, growling or showing their teeth and signs of fear include pinning their ears back, lip licking, or tucking their tails between their legs.
Don't touch a dog who is sleeping or eating, or chewing a toy.
Most importantly, avoid the tail, paws or hidden areas that they are not comfortable with.
For petting an unfamiliar dog, always ask the owner for permission first. Some dogs are not enjoying pettings from strangers.
